About Me

My name is Albert Joseph Baxter IIII am a 45-year-old father of two. I was born and raised in Buffalo, New York. After nearly a decade of living away from home in North Carolina, I returned to the Queen City. While most of my family reside in North Carolina, my wife Chrystal, daughter Elaina, and son Nicholas enjoy the changing seasons of the northeast.

I spent several years overseas while on deployment serving in the United States Army. My perspective on life and work are heavily shaped by my experiences while serving in the Military, working in the public and private sectors, and from my upbringing.

Family

I am very fortunate to be the son of two amazing parents who provided a loving and caring home while growing up. Patricia and Albert Jr. have instilled in me the value of education. I have emulated their work ethic and embodied their values throughout all my endeavors. My pursuit of a Ph.D. is the same. My parents have been instrumental in my sisters' success as well.

My sisters are all very talented in their own right. I have followed in the footsteps of my eldest sister Toni, who earned a Master's in Business Administration and a Doctorate in Philosophy. I have always held her in high esteem. She is resolute, serving as a role model professionally. My sister Jill is a Physicians Assistant. I have watched her climb the nursing ranks from Certified Nursing Assistant to Licensed Practical Nurse to Registered Nurse, and she is now studying to become a Medical Doctor. Jill taught me that when pursuing anything extraordinary, expect adversity. My sister Robin and I are closest in age. Robin is a Register Nurse as well. Her career path has been more flexible, but her aspiration for caring for others has always taken precedence. She leads with her heart, and everyone she encounters is a beneficiary.

My parents and sisters are responsible for constructing the foundation of the man I am today. However, my wife and children drive me to be a better person each day. Our children are a true reflections of us. Watching our children grow and become young adults is life-changing. Nick and Elaina are finishing their undergraduate degree this year. Nick has an entrepreneurial spirit and is looking to start a career in real estate, while Elaina is focusing on Law School. We are both very proud of their accomplishments.

My wife, Chrystal and I have been together for 15 years. We are inseparable and are seldom on different pages. She is mindful and insightful. I cherish her advice and know I would not have gotten to this point without her.

I am a second-year doctoral student at Niagara University studying in the Leadership and Policy Ph.D. Program. I anticipate completing the program in May 2024.

Traveling is one of my favorite hobbies. I enjoy exploring new places and I believe learning about different cultures is important to understanding the world. Each interaction I have while traveling has proved to be rewarding. I have learned plenty about others but about myself.

Second to traveling is eating. One of my favorite activities is breaking bread with friends and family. When you can get both together at the same table or Buffalo Bills tailgate I am elated. I am a Buffalonian, so I had to mention the Bills!

I enjoy watching American football and European football or soccer as it is know in America. I am a Chelsea fanatic and have been to Stamford Bridge Stadium to cheer on my favorite team.

Interests

Goals

Earning a doctorate will help me achieve a life-enriching goal. I have seen how advancing my education has allowed me to help more people. At each step, I have been privileged to advance my career and have had greater access to assisting more people. Earning a doctoral degree will allow me to do the same in a greater capacity.

I have aspirations to teach at a higher education institution. It will allow me to share my experiences as a black professional. I have a perspective that I have seldom found in academia.

Professionally, advancing my education will open doors to more significant opportunities. More importantly, it will allow me to open doors to others.
